Wedding Music and Entertainment
It is fairly traditional to have the “Wedding March” played immediately upon the bride’s appearance at the wedding ceremony. Obviously, this is not compulsory – and sometimes, not considered at all appropriate.
Any music during a wedding ceremony is usually dependent on taste. A religious wedding service may require hymns to be selected. Weddings which do not take place in a place of worship will usually permit any music (within reason) – often with the proviso that it is non-religious.
Wedding poetry is often considered appropriate at some stage during a wedding ceremony.
And a Scottish Piper or Irish Bagpiper can provide a wonderful atmosphere at all manner of weddings.
The presence of a wedding chimney sweep can add “that something different” to the occasion. And after the event, the wedding chimney sweep adds a touch of amusement to your wedding photos.
For music at the wedding reception, many bridal couples select to employ a DJ with a disco. This is often the most cost-effective way to organise the music for the wedding reception. But many bridal couples prefer to have a live band to supply the music for their wedding evening’s entertainment.
Hoe down bands, rock bands and jazz bands help to provide a party atmosphere – and are usually well remembered, by wedding guests, for years to come.
And it is not uncommon for bridal couples to employ a live band for two to three hours – and then follow the band with a DJ and disco into the wee hours of the morning. It is important to book a DJ, and/or live band, immediately following the booking of the wedding venue. Popular DJ’s and bands often already have scores of bookings listed for way into the future.
Like any other party night, a wedding reception can have any variety of performers. Impersonators can add an extra bonus to a wedding reception. Late afternoon or early evening, kids in attendance can be entertained by children’s entertainers such as clowns, magicians and balloon sculptors.
Indoor sparklers can provide much fun during a wedding reception. Outdoor fireworks certainly help to finish the evening on a high note.
There are no “laid-down” rules that insist your wedding reception needs to follow a certain format. Just work out what you think is best for you - and enjoy yourselves.
