Father of Bride & Ushers

The Father of the Bride always needs to appear calm on the day of his daughter’s wedding – as his vital role is endeavouring to keep his daughter composed. He will accompany his daughter in the wedding vehicle to the place of the wedding ceremony – and traditionally, he will walk with his daughter to the front of the wedding ceremony venue. As the bridegroom and best man come to join them, he may wish to pass his daughter’s hand to the groom before sitting down on a seat at the front. Following tradition at the end of the ceremony, he will become part of the party following the bride and groom from the establishment, often with the bridegroom’s mother on his arm. Although not compulsory, it is generally expected that he will make a speech following the wedding breakfast.

Ushers are required to be in attendance, at the entrance of the wedding ceremony venue, well in advance of the time of the wedding ceremony. They will be required to hand out button holes and Orders of Service, and attend to any guests who require assistance.
