Bridesmaids and Best Man
Bridesmaids, Best Man and other VIPs
Careful consideration should always be applied before requesting a friend or relative to become a part of the wedding agenda. Sometimes, a bride and groom would prefer a particularly close relative or friend not to be a part of the proceedings. And if there is a very good reason why there should be a reservation on requesting a best friend to become a bridesmaid, or a brother to become the best man, then it is sometimes better not to include these people in any of special wedding procedures.
All guests performing a role in the marriage ceremony need to be adorned in suitable attire. These special guests are usually adorned in dresses and suits which have been selected by the bride or groom. If these special guests detest their chosen outfits for the occasion, sometimes there is a small amount of compromise required. If, say, a bridesmaid refuses to wear anything remotely like her chosen outfit, it is usually better to change the bridesmaid rather than the outfit.
The Best Man needs to ensure that the groom is bright and breezy – and ready in plenty of time for his wedding, - especially if this is the following day. On the wedding day, he will need to ensure that everything is taken along to the wedding that is required. This especially applies to wedding rings and payments for entertainers, and possibly such things as passports. He will accompany the groom to the church. Before arrival of the bride and bridesmaids, he is likely to be seated at the front of wedding ceremony establishment with the groom. The best man customarily signs the register. Following the wedding ceremony, he is expected to ensure that all the guests have transportation to the venue of the wedding reception. He is required to make a speech following the wedding breakfast.
As most brides and grooms realise, the bridesmaids, matron of honour, best man, ushers and father of the bride - plus any other guests who have a role to play at the wedding, can make a significant difference on a wedding day.
